PLEA Respite Care Program

The Respite Care Program at PLEA provides care for children with emotional, behavioral and developmental disabilities. The goal of the program is to provide in home support and relief to families with a child or children with a mental health diagnosis.

Well-trained staff provides safe supervision and engage the children in activities while parents go out to an activity or appointment or stay in the home to do something they cannot do when they are responsible for the children.

PLEA Childcare:

• Is for children ages 0-18
• Is provided in the child’s home or community
• Includes siblings
• Is short-term (2-8 hours per visit; no overnights)
• Is provided weekdays, weekends, days, and evenings

Availability of respite care providers cannot be guaranteed. However, every effort is made to accommodate all requests. There is an hourly fee. Financial assistance may be available through the Allegheny County Service Coordination Units for families who cannot afford the fee.

Children must be registered in advance.
