PAL Program

The PAL program is designed for men and women aged twenty-one and over and provides peer socialization opportunities for adults who have developmental or mental health disorders and who exhibit poor communication and social skills as a result.

This population usually has difficulty establishing and maintaining relationships with their peers. The program offers the opportunity for friendship and group recreation on an on-going, monthly basis.

PLEA The PAL Coordinator pre-plans group-appropriate activities approximately three times per month. Examples of activities planned are:

• Plays
• Musicals
• Museums and concerts
• Going bowling
• Playing Miniature Golf
• Dining Out
• Picnics and Nature Walks

PAL staff supervises each activity and helps to facilitate conversation and interaction among participants. They also serve as role models for social skills.
